A Amaj7 I walked across an empty land Bm E I knew the pathway like the back of my hand I felt the earth beneath my feet Sat by the river and it made me completePre-Chorus
F#m C#m Oh simple thing, where have you gone D E I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin I came across a fallen tree I felt the branches, are they looking at me Is this the place we used to love Is this the place that I've been dreaming of Oh simple thing, where have you gone I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to beginChorus
Bm A/C# E And if you have a minute why don't we go Talk about it, somewhere only we know This could be the end of everything So why don't we go, somewhere only we know Somewhere only we know... Oh simple thing, where have you gone I'm getting old and I need something to rely on So tell me when you're gonna let me in I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin And if you have a minute why don't we go Talk about it, somewhere only we know This could be the end of everything So why don't we go, so why don't we go Ahh.... Ohh... This could be the end of everything So why don't we go, somewhere only we know Somewhere only we know Somewhere only we know
Here are the basic chords used to play this song. When switching to the A/C# in the chorus, keep your index finger barred on the 2nd fret (from playing the Bm just before it).

Not too advanced, per se, but some little flourishes you can add to mimic the recorded version's piano voicing are shown below. Basically, you're typically adding your pinky to give some of the chords an extra note or two (see the tabs, listen along for the exact strumming/rhythm).

Here's a list of the 173 songs I've added to the site since December 2012. Each song was added by me personally.
Songs are grouped by the year they were released.
My name is David Potsiadlo, and I created Songnotes to share my collection of guitar tabs, chords, and lyrics for my favorite songs.
Since I started playing guitar over 10 years ago, I've often been frustrated by the preponderance of mediocre and incomplete song tabs littered across the internet. To combat this, I started keeping my own collection of notes for each song I learn -- always taking the extra time to make sure accuracy and completeness are never compromised. Years later, my collection grew to the point where I knew I had to share it online with fellow aspiring musicians.
In December 2012, I began designing & developing a website that became Songnotes. Here, I share my personal collection of hand-crafted music notation with all those online. I hope you enjoy.
