The chords used in this song can be played as follows. Open (simpler) versions are shown on the left, with barred (advanced) versions shown on the right. Feel free to mix these up depending on the circumstances (electric vs. acoustic, playing as a group vs. individual, etc).
e-|---0-----2----0----0----3----2---- ---7-----5----3----5----3----2---- B-|---0-----3----1----1----0----0---- ---8-----7----5----5----3----4---- G-|---0-----2----0----2----0----2---- ---9-----7----5----5----4----2---- D-|---2-----0----3----2----0----1---- or ---9-----7----5----7----5----4---- A-|---2----------2----0----2----2---- ---7-----5----3----7----5----2---- E-|---0--------------------3--------- ---0---------------5----3--------- Em D C Am G B7 Em D C Am G B7
The opening riff can be played like this. In standard tuning, you can keep the fretboard entirely empty (technically these notes are in the chord of Em).
e-|------------0-----------------0-----------------0-----------------0-------- B-|---------0-----0-----------0-----0-----------0-----0-----------0-----0----- G-|------0-----------0-----0-----------0-----0-----------0-----0-----------0-- D-|--------------------------------------------------------------------------- A-|--------------------------------------------------------------------------- E-|---0-----------------0-----------------0-----------------0----------------- Em
Later in the intro, this riff can be heard. It follows the Em → D → C progression you'll hear in the verse, and then (just like the verse) continues to the G → B7 chords before going back to Em.
e-|-----------0----------2---------0--- -------3---------2-----0--- B-|----------0-----------3---------1--- -------0---------0-----0--- G-|---------0---------2------------0--- -------0---------2-----0--- D-|--------2-------0------------2------ 3x, then -------0-------1-------2--- A-|-------2------------------3--------- -----2-------2---------2--- E-|---0-------------------------------- ---3-------------------0--- Em D C G B7 Em
e-|-----------7----------5---------3--- -------3---------2-----0--- B-|----------8-----------7---------5--- -------3---------4-----0--- G-|---------9------------7---------5--- -------4---------2-----0--- D-|--------9----------7---------5------ 3x, then -------5-------4-------2--- A-|-------7--------5---------3--------- -----5-------2---------2--- E-|---0-------------------------------- ---3-------------------0--- Em D C G B7 Em
If you're looking for the complete intro solo, check out YouTube or other resources online -- other guitarists have covered that with greater skill than I can bring to the table. The chords and riffs above should otherwise be enough for you to make your way through this song adequately. Enjoy!

Here's a list of the 173 songs I've added to the site since December 2012. Each song was added by me personally.
Songs are grouped by the year they were released.
My name is David Potsiadlo, and I created Songnotes to share my collection of guitar tabs, chords, and lyrics for my favorite songs.
Since I started playing guitar over 10 years ago, I've often been frustrated by the preponderance of mediocre and incomplete song tabs littered across the internet. To combat this, I started keeping my own collection of notes for each song I learn -- always taking the extra time to make sure accuracy and completeness are never compromised. Years later, my collection grew to the point where I knew I had to share it online with fellow aspiring musicians.
In December 2012, I began designing & developing a website that became Songnotes. Here, I share my personal collection of hand-crafted music notation with all those online. I hope you enjoy.
